Heat Pumps

Print E-mail

ground-heatpumpGround source heat pumps use pipes buried in the garden to extract heat from the ground. This is usually used to heat radiators or underfloor heating systems and hot water.

Under the first few layers of ground the temperature stays quite stable, so you can use your ground source heat pump all year round.

Ground source heat pumps distribute a blend of antifreeze and water round a ground loop, which is concealed in the garden. The heat from the ground is then absorbed into the mixture and is pumped through a heat exchanger in the heat pump.

Benefits of a ground source heat pump

  • Lower fuel bills, especially if your using conventional electric heat
  • No fuel deliveries required
  • Little maintenance
  • Can reduce your carbon footprint
